Club Meeting

There will be a club meeting on Tuesday 30th March at 7pm to discuss the issue of Sunday teams using the ground and how this affects the 1st team plans for the season as well as sponsorship news. A short report will follow on here.

2nd XI - Season 2009 Averages

Last years batting and bowling averages for the 2nd team can be found by clicking here, or by clicking on the Averages link below the main banner. Once the season is underway the new ones will appear in the same place.

Whilst looking at other Wetherby League Club websites to see how they were bringing in money I noticed a couple (Saxton & Collingham) were using a website called EasyFundraising. Whilst it might not make the East Keswick rich overnight, it could provide enough money to pay for a few new cricket balls!

EasyFundraising is a shopping directory listing lots of online stores including Argos, Next, Debenhams, John Lewis, Toys R Us, HMV and about 2000 others. New look website

As you may have noticed the website has undergone a facelift and a number of improvements have been made. Main sections of the website can now be accessed via the links under the main banner. These include the team Selections for each week along with the season's Fixtures and the current season Averages. Hopefully this will make the site a little easier to navigate and mean certain information will always be easy to find.

Any comments or suggestions about what might be useful to have on the site are welcome!

The club has to provide the WCL with an up to date list of all players addresses before the season begins. Can you please e-mail: eastkeswickcc@googlemail.com with your current address if it has changed since the start of the 2009 season.

Player availability for 2010 Season

With the new season only three weeks away on Saturday (17th April), i'd like players (where possible) to let me know their availability over the coming season. Trying to make sure we have 11 players on a Saturday afternoon is the most difficult and pain in the backside part of being captain, so I'd ask you where possible to let me know the dates when you know you are unavailable to play in advance.

Meeting - Update

A few notes from the meeting last week...

• The wind turbine plan looks to have fallen through due to the lack of response from the company offering the venture.
  
  
• One sightscreen has been fixed up and another will follow before the start of the season.
  
  
• The ground is looking ok, although the lines from the football are still present on the field. Some work needs to be done on the clubhouse before the season begins.
  
  
• Letters will be delivered to as many residents of East Keswick as possible asking them to donate or sponsor the club in order to raise some money.
  
  
• A sponsorship letter is also being organised for a few companies outside the village who have expressed an interest in sponsoring the club.

Changes to League Rules - 2010

The main changes to the playing rules are below.

• The maximum number of overs a bowler can bowl during a 45 over game is now 12.
  
  
• Junior players are now classed as anyone who is under 19 as of midnight 31st August 2009.
  
  
• I am checking with the league but it would appear that there is no longer a limit on the number of consecutive overs a junior bowler can bowl. I've read the rules twice and still can't see where there is a limit.

When i get a confirmation I will update this post.

EDIT : The number of overs someone under the Age of 18/19 can bowl in a row is now 7.
