Results - Week 18

With only one point needed form their last 4 game to assure promotion to Division 1, the first team did so with ease whilst comprehensively beating Saxton by 132 runs.

Meanwhile the second team faced an important trip to Saxton A, where despite some good bowling came undone at the hands of some beneficial umpring decisions and a Saxton first team batsman who scored 114 not out, out of Saxton A's total of 230-8. In reply the second team were 145 all out.

This loss means any possible promotion to Division 5 rests with East Keswick winning their remaining three games and whilst hoping Garforth PC lose one of their remaining three.

Week 18 - Results

Week 18 saw both East Keswick teams win yet again.

The first team travelled to Bilton in Ainsty where batting first they scored 228 all out. In reply the home side managed 189/9 giving East Keswick a five point win and keeping them clear at the top of Division 2.

The second team hosted Little Ribston hoping to take revenge for earlier in the season. Winning a good toss Ribston were put into bat where once again some excellent bowling and fielding reduced the away team to 67 all out.

Andy Barber removed the three opening batsmen whilst returning figures of 9-2-35-3 before Ashley Richardson ripped through the middle order and was twice on a hatrick ball before finishing with figures of 4-2-3-5. Both were supported well with Farid Hussain (11-2-21-0) who bowled well with little luck, and Mohammad Kamran (1.1-0-2-1) who picked up the final wicket. Andrew Hirst took three catches behind the stumps.

In reply Keswick knocked the runs off for the loss of 3 wickets with Ashley Richardson (45*), and Neil Chapman (12*) reaching the target despite some nervous moments early on as both Andrew Hirst and Farid Hussain fell thanks to some good Ribston bowling.

The win takes the team into third place in the table with the game away at Saxton next week looking like a very important fixture.

Whixley Evening League - Knockout Cup

On Sunday morning a makeshift 6-man strong East Keswick team travelled to Bramham & Clifford to play in the Whixley Evening League knockout competition. Batting first East Keswick made 103 all out before an amazing spell of bowling by Mark Abram (4 wickets) and some inspired 6-man fielding positions reduced a 9-man Bramham & Clifford to 103-5 in reply. A fine effort under the circumstances!

Week 17 - Results

Week 17 saw the 1st team go down to Kippax Welfare with the assistance of what was said to be poor umpiring decisions. Kippax Welfare made 151 all out as East Keswick were bowled out for 96.

The second team won again, making it 11 on field wins out from the last 12 games played. Keswick won the toss and batted first, but were one wicket down very early on as Ashley Richardson made his first ever golden duck. Farid Hussain made a quick 30 before being caught out. Only a long stay at the crease from Andrew Hirst (37) and some important runs from Imran Hussain (15) and Andy Barber (13*) took Keswick to a well below par 130 all out.

Kippax Welfare 'A' were quickly two wickets down thanks to some good bowling from Andy Barber (7-0-23-2). A deadly spell of bowling from Faird Hussain (6.2-2-6-4) and Ashley Richardson (7-3-13-3) finished the game off as the opposition were bowled out for just 69, ensuring all 6 points.
