Week 4 - 2nd Team Batting Averages

Here are the batting averages for the 2nd team after week 4's results. Ashley Richardson's fantastic early season form means he has already amassed 308 runs at an average of 77.00. This leaves him only 60 runs short of the total he scored in 12 innings throughout all of last season.

1st Team Scorecard - Week 4

Some superb bowling early on from East Keswick as Imran and Bash ripped through Bramhope's top order as they barely reached double figures. Only some determined tail end batting pushed Bramhope's score into three digits.

Sunday 17th May - Round 1, Betty Chadderton Rosebowl

  • East Keswick A vs. Bilton in Ainsty A (2nd team)

Week 4 - Results

The East Keswick 1st team took all 6 points in a convincing 87 run victory over Bramhope. They made 196 all out and then removed the opposition for 109. The victory lifted them to third place in the table. (More details to follow)

The 2nd team continued a run of losing close games as Garforth PC won with just three balls remaining. An excellent batting performance on a good batting wicket, with James Cosgrove making a superb 116, Ashley Richardson 56 and Neil Chapman 30* was not enough to compensate for a series of dropped catches and having to field for 20 or so overs with only ten men.

Week 1 - Whixley Evening League Result

The East Keswick Whixley Evening League team lost by 61 runs to Bolton Percy on Thursday evening. Chasing a target of 156 off sixteen eight ball overs they were bowled out for 96. Despite some excellent fielding (with three run outs and an excellent catch from Gareth Meredith), and some tight bowling from Adrian Hirst (4-0-29-2) East Keswick were unable to follow it up in the batting department.

Keswick lost Mark Abram for a duck early on and only Kevin Newlove (15) and Andrew Hirst (18) reached double figures.

Next Thursday East Keswick are at home to Church Fenton. Anyone wanting to play and wanting a game should contact Neil Chapman on: nelleychap123@aol.com

Week 3 - Results

East Keswick 1st team made a remarkable recovery in making 144 all out after being reduced to 33-6. Some excellent bowling then skittled Oulton out for just 116 to claim six points.

In contrast the 2nd team slumped from 55-0 to 104 all out in a poor batting performance that wasn't helped by a low bouncing wicket. Only a fine last wicket partnership between Matt Bishop and John Simpson took the total into three figures. To make matters worse they were reduced to ten men when Gareth Meredith broke a toe whilst batting and was unable to field.

Despite a stirling bowling effort and some much improved fielding, Hillam & Monk Fryston reached the total with two wickets to spare, with perhaps the decisive moment coming as Andrew Hirst dropped a simple top edged catch behind the stumps off the bowling of Ashley Richardson.

James Cosgrove took 4-36, Andy Barber 3-27 and Ashley Richardson 1-30.
