Weather Forecast
As i'm sure people are aware there has been a good deal of rain over the past 24 hours. Yogi said on Thursday evening that the ground would handle a good couple of inches of rain and should not be too badly affected. As of 9.50pm Friday evening there has been nothing to suggest that the game is currently in danger of being called off.
The 2nd team game at Whixley is still on. James spoke to their captain on Friday evening and he said that the ground drains well and there will be an inspection early Saturday morning. 2nd team players will be informed before 11am if the game has been called off.
The overnight forecast is/was for mainly dry weather for both home and away games and into Saturday afternoon the forecast is for light rain, cloud and sunshine, so fingers crossed that both will take place.

Week 2 - Whixley Evening League Result
On Thursday night East Keswick lost a game reduced to 12 overs by 6 just runs after failing to reach Church Fenton's target of 159.
Some good batting by the Church Fenton top order set a tough target bearing in the poor light, and despite being behind the required run rate for a good part of the game some excellent batting by Mark Abram's (39) and Farid Hussain (52) brought East Kewsick within half a dozen runs of the target. Two sixes of the last two balls by Gareth Meredith (12*) left the game agonisingly close, especially as the 'final' ball of the game which was hit for six was a clear no ball that the umpire didn't spot.

The East Keswick 1st team took all 6 points in a convincing 87 run victory over Bramhope. They made 196 all out and then removed the opposition for 109. The victory lifted them to third place in the table. (More details to follow)
The 2nd team continued a run of losing close games as Garforth PC won with just three balls remaining. An excellent batting performance on a good batting wicket, with James Cosgrove making a superb 116, Ashley Richardson 56 and Neil Chapman 30* was not enough to compensate for a series of dropped catches and having to field for 20 or so overs with only ten men.

Week 1 - Whixley Evening League Result
The East Keswick Whixley Evening League team lost by 61 runs to Bolton Percy on Thursday evening. Chasing a target of 156 off sixteen eight ball overs they were bowled out for 96. Week 3 - Results
East Keswick 1st team made a remarkable recovery in making 144 all out after being reduced to 33-6. Some excellent bowling then skittled Oulton out for just 116 to claim six points.
In contrast the 2nd team slumped from 55-0 to 104 all out in a poor batting performance that wasn't helped by a low bouncing wicket. Only a fine last wicket partnership between Matt Bishop and John Simpson took the total into three figures. To make matters worse they were reduced to ten men when Gareth Meredith broke a toe whilst batting and was unable to field.
Despite a stirling bowling effort and some much improved fielding, Hillam & Monk Fryston reached the total with two wickets to spare, with perhaps the decisive moment coming as Andrew Hirst dropped a simple top edged catch behind the stumps off the bowling of Ashley Richardson.
James Cosgrove took 4-36, Andy Barber 3-27 and Ashley Richardson 1-30.
