AGM Update

The AGM has been provisionally made for Friday 30th November at 7pm at The Duke. Confirmation will be given by tomorrow evening.

***IMPORTANT*** If you are wanting to play next season, please either make the effort to come along or if you cant make it let me know your intentions. If you know of people who have expressed an interest in joining the club, please also let this know.

It is vital we have a good idea of how many players are available for the coming season as if we are struggling for numbers then there is the possibility the club will drop to just one team.

Due to the lack of people in East Keswick village who want to play the club now survives on the interest from people outside it. It is not extreme to say that without a group of core people running the club and those currently playing, there would be no more cricket at East Keswick CC, so we encourage everyone to be involved who can be.

Thanks

EKCC

2nd XI Win vs. Headingley A!

Due to Headingley fielding an inelegible player they have been stripped of their 6 points and had them given to the 2nd team.

Week 18 - Preview

Both teams face tough opposition this weekend with the 1st team hosting Kirk Deighton who have only lost one game this season. With relegation still not ruled out they will be looking for a good performance on the back of a heavy defeat to lowly Scarcroft A at the weekend where their number 3 batsman made his second century of the season, and his second against East Keswick.

The 2nd XI are away at Bramhope as they take on Headingley A who are only one point clear in 2nd place of Whixley A. On the back of two good wins with less than the full compliment of players they will be looking to give Headingley a good game with Ravi Teja making his first appearance of the season for them.

East Keswick 2nd XI vs Church Fenton 25th Aug Cancelled

Due to a mass holiday of players on the bank holiday weekend of the 25th of August, the friendly vs Church Fenton has been cancelled.

We shall have to amuse and abuse EK hero and now CF regular Ash Richardson another year..

This means now that there will be no game for the 2nd XI at all that weekend (for those who may have been hanging around desperate for leather against willow and did not get picked for the 1st XI)

Week 16 - Results

A good week for both teams!

The 1st XI won convincingly by 5 wickets at home vs Bramhope CC. Zaheer Abbas MOTM with 3 wickets and a cool 43* runs.

A very good result against promotion chasing Whixley CC saw the 2nd XI off the foot of the table*. EK posted 206-8 after 45 overs and bowled the home team out for a modest 120. Zee Khan taking the motm honors with 2 wickets and 54 with the bat.

*silly points deduction

Week 15 - Results

The 1st XI cruised to an impressive 9 wicket win against 3rd place St Chads Broomfield thanks to a superb bowling performance with Muhammad Kamran taking 3 for 21 and Man of the Match Bidyke Utchay flattening the Chads batting with an impressive 6-14. It left Chads reeling at 49 all out and Keswick knocked the runs off for the loss of one wicket as Farooq Maniyar continued his fine form with a well made 35.

The 2nd XI went down by just 12 runs to top of the table Wighill despite only have 10 men. Some fine bowling and fielding saw Wighill dismissed for just 112. In reply Tony Watson dug in for a well made 30 and Nagarjuna and Zuzu making contributions of their own to keep Keswick within reach of victory. In the end the 10 men told as the 2nd XI went down a dozen runs short.

Week 14 - Result

The 1st XI came up short on Saturday as they went down by just 7 runs to Rufforth.

A very good fielding and bowling performance saw Keswick keep Rufforth to a small target of just 132 for 8 from 45 overs with Bidyke Utchay taking 4-17, Ravi Teja 2-12, Kamran 1-11 and Zaheer Abbas 1-32.

In reply Keswick got within touching distance thanks to 47 from Keswick's Man of The Match Utchay and 36 from Farooq. Despite only needing 32 to win and having 6 wickets in had the Keswick batting order crumbled, losing four wickets for no runs and coming up 7 runs short in a disappointing loss.

With promotion chasing St Chads the opposition this Saturday Keswick will be looking to show a bit more grit in a potentially good batting department if they want to record their first win since the opening match of the season.
